On the 100th episode of the Ron Huntley Leadership Podcast, I'm joined by Fr. Sammie Maletta & Khalil Hattar for a conversation about generosity as Catholic leaders.
We dive deep into parish renewal, Catholic leadership and what it means to be a parish that blesses & resources others! They share insights gained through their own ministry work, give practical perspective to those who are just starting out, and offer so much value about transforming your mindset & becoming an even greater blessing to the communities around you.
Being a Catholic leader is hard work; being sustainably fruitful is even harder! Becoming competent as a leader takes commitment, humility and drive. And being generous doesn't always come easy. But with the right approach, you can develop a culture of generosity as you increase your own impact, and begin helping others do the same!

Mobilizing people for mission is fundamental in church leadership. The fruit of our labours as Catholic leaders should include creating missionary disciples!
But it's one thing to KNOW that you need to mobilize your church for missional impact; it's a whole other thing to actually go about CREATING that kind of culture.
What if creating a missional culture wasn't about fixing everything for everyone all the time, but rather identifying what people are naturally gifted at, and linking the mission with people's natural loves and strengths?
In this episode, I'm joined by Marcel LeJeune, President & Founder of Catholic Missionary Disciples. Marcel is an avid blogger, author, speaker, & Catholic leadership coach, working with his team to equip Catholic leaders for transformational ministry. In our conversation, he provided so much incredible perspective on what it looks like to equip & release your parishioners to share the love of Jesus with the world around them!
If you're a leader who feels your capacity is at its limit, this episode will leave you encouraged & provide invaluable insights that will challenge what you believe is possible!

Culture isn't a buzzword, or gimmick; it's not something that you can simply talk about. Culture is the environment and feeling you experience when you walk through the doors of an organization. It's a real thing that's felt, and it needs to be developed intentionally!
Your parish or organization has a culture. Whether that culture was created intentionally or not, it does exist; and people feel it!
What can you do to create a culture where people want to be, where they know they're valued, and that makes them want to continue coming back time-and-time again?
On this episode, I'm joined by Chris Adams, CEO of Ellis Adams Group (EAG), a luxury brand consulting firm working within the hospitality industry! His firm has worked with brands such as the Ritz Carlton, Marriott, and many more. Chris started at the bottom and worked his way up the corporate ladder, and in our conversation, he shared some of his learnings and insight about developing a culture where teams can thrive, and guests are consistently blown away!
Whether you're in business, leading a ministry, or are clergy in the Catholic Church, this episode will give practical insight into equipping your team for impact, and creating an authentic culture that people will want to come back to.

As a pastor, how is your relationship with your associate? As an associate, how is your relationship with your pastor? As a bishop, what are your expectations and hope for the pastor/associate relationship?
To put it another way: How do you build a church together while juggling two unique leadership styles?
By opening the conversation and exploring the 'how' behind a healthy pastor/associate relationship, we can grow in our own relationships and maximize the potential of our churches. Heath, growth, and impact are possible if we are intentional!
On this episode, we dive deep into the relationship between a Pastor & an Associate. Fr. Sammie Maletta, a pastor of 20-plus years, and Fr. Declan McNicholas, an associate pastor, collaborate in exceptional ways to bring about organizational health & empower other leaders in their parish for impact. They joined me this week to share about their experience of learning to lead alongside one another!
This podcast could be a great conversation starter with your own Pastor/Associate.
Highlighting the importance of embracing two unique perspectives, learning to respect one another's input, and maintaining a common vision of what they hope to accomplish, this episode will leave you encouraged & empowered as you grow your own relationships with the leaders around you.

Vision is a big word. Leaders sometimes use it as a buzzword, but how do we really put it into practice?
So often we get caught up in the how-tos, making sure that the programs are in place, without the vision for why we are doing what we are doing. This can lead to people being turned off by the church because there is no soul behind what they offer. And yet, with a little vision and imagination, we can make our ministries more inviting, more welcoming and can increase the sense of belonging among our laity.
How do we define vision for us as Catholic leaders? Why do we need it? Is it a "nice to have" or does it enable us to carry out our mission? In this episode, Christian & Ron discuss the importance of vision, and how we can allow it to permeate and influence everything we're doing in our ministries!

This week, Ron interviews Erin Monnin & Cristofer Pereyra, co-authors of a book titled, 'Catholic Leadership for Civil Society'. In this conversation, we discuss the responsibility & role of lay professional Catholics to influence the world around them while living out their faith in the secular society in which they work, live and serve.
Erin & Cristofer share valuable truth about how lay Catholic leadership is not meant to confined to the Catholic community exclusively; our mission & calling is to be a light that illuminates every aspect of secular society with the Truth of the Gospel.
Their book explores the "unique responsibility and privileged opportunity to influence the world for Christ" that lay Catholic professionals have been given, and how to maximize the impact made on your sphere of influence.

Staying contextually relevant while navigating the ins and outs of ministry has always been a challenge - but in this new digital age, along with all the changes that have come with it, there has truly never been a more unique opportunity for the church!
New generations are coming into the church, and what was once relevant is now outdated. How does the church engage in its role in a dynamic way? How does the church minister in a way that is relevant to the culture and society that we live in today?
In this episode, Ron speaks with Lorraine McCarthy & Llewy Berchy, two of the Animation Team members in Melbourne who work at the diocesan level, partnering with Parish Priests to assist them in becoming sustainably-fruitful. They share their experiences of assisting priests/pastors in bringing the good news to those who need to hear it!

We also talk about how destructive pornography is in today's culture and what we can do to help others find freedom from it as well.
Secret Habit is an incredible ministry that helps, motivates, encourages and empowers people to transcend their addiction to pornography and find hope, freedom, and restoration on the other side! Shawn has coached and mentored men from around the world, spoken to crowds in person and virtually from all over the globe, and has led trainings for leaders wanting to help their organizations deal with the harms of pornography.

Newly ordained priests are leaving the seminary formed with perspectives and hopes that may not be in keeping with the pastor or parish they are placed in. This time of learning & formation prepares them for & alleviates some challenges, but there is often still a tension between that time of formation and preparation for the realities of ministry.
They're ready for the priesthood, but can be set up to fail from the beginning because many are not ready for what it means to be an associate pastor. They might have gone through post-seminary formation, but that's often different from the formation needed for their new role. Is there a better way of getting them ready and providing support in this stage of their formation?
In this episode, I'm joined by Fr. Michael Rubeling, who shares his own thoughts and insights based on his experiences as an associate priest for six years with three pastor assignments under his belt. We discuss trends we've seen, the negative impacts of getting these things wrong, and ways to invest in pastoral formation and leadership development in the associate role!
